Whether we like it or not fall is coming, but the transition into fall isn’t as instant as Starbucks with their PSL’s or your fave Instagram influencer leads you to believe with all those cute fall outfits. The weather doesn’t just magically change from summer to fall and sometimes it can be hard to know what to pack away from your summer wardrobe and bring out from your fall wardrobe. I’m taking the easiest item from your summer wardrobe, the LBD, and created four outfit inspirations to help you transition into fall! Hint, knit sweaters and the ankle bootie obviously make an appearance!

Plaid lovers rejoice because fall is officially the start of plaid season! Take your favourite plaid and roll up those sleeves and leave unbuttoned to wear like a “sweater” over that black summer dress. Pair with a flat bootie and belt for the perfect chic casual fall look. This outfit would be great for Canada’s early October Thanksgiving dinner, which for the past few years in Ontario have been super warm! For a more youthful look, because I'm an older lady these days, skip the belt and tie your shirt up around the waist.

As I said the temperatures don't just turn from summer to fall because school starts up again or because the CNE is officially over. You may still get the possibility of a lunch date out on a patio in September. Wear your fave jean jacket with your little black summer dress and a cute fall scarf. I love burgundy and wine coloured clothing and accessories for fall, so this infinity scarf is the perfect accessory to complete this fall look.  Wear with a little more of a healed ankle bootie to dress the look up for a lunch date.

Headed for a day out apple picking or to the pumpkin patch? We all know people just go apple picking or pumpkin shopping these days for a cute gram pic, so you want your outfit to be super adorable for all the "likes". (I sound like that Winners commercial right now with the 3 annoying chicks sitting on the couch! Sorry about that!) Throw a cute fall coloured tie up or crop sweatshirt over your dress and pair with booties and a cute beanie. No one will even realize your wearing your little black summer dress as this outfit pulls off a shirt and skirt look. My fave fall colours are of course my mustard yellow/marigold, burgundy/wines and that dark reddish tan colour.

My last look is my most obvious fall look, the chunky knit sweater and the cute suede ankle bootie. You can also pair your dress with a pull over chunky knit sweater for a skirt look. Either look is perfect for a fall date night or you can even wear this look to the office.

Remember to always have fun with your looks and experiment with what you already own in your closest versus buying brand new! Creating new outfits out of old items gives you the same "high" as buying new, but is friendlier on the budget! I’d love to hear or see how you wear some of your fave summer items into fall, show me or tell me in the comments!
