PHYSICAL APPRECIATION

Ever since I changed my mindset towards my body, I find myself truly enjoying a workout.

What did I change? I stopped feeling defeated if a workout felt really hard. Stopped not appreciating the workout my body did, regardless if I was unable to complete the full set of an exercise.

Every second of every day, the majority of us take for granted what our bodies actually do for us. Until you witness the things we can actually do taken away from someone you love, I’m not sure you'll ever fully appreciate your body.

Can your body get up from sitting on the couch to go to the bathroom? Yes? That IS amazing.

Can your body pick up your child, niece or nephew, baby cousin? Yes? That IS amazing.

Can your body cook itself a meal? Yes? That IS amazing.

Can your body drive a car? Yes? That IS amazing.

Asking our bodies to do a hard workout, is actually asking it do MORE than usual. Why be upset if you felt it was hard? You shouldn’t. You should be thankful your body did those extra things for you. I start every workout now with gratitude towards my body. I thank it for doing this extra activity, and allowing me to do it. If I start to feel the workout is to hard or I’m starting to get in that negative headspace, I stop. Breath in and out, and again repeat the gratitude towards my body. Any results I see from working out are frankly just bonuses.
