SAG AWARDS BEST DRESSED 2022

2022’s award season is officially underway, but more importantly 2022’s red carpet season is officially underway! Am I right? On Sunday night it kicked off with the SAG Awards and I honestly can’t tell you who was nominated for what or who won but, I can tell you who my favourite dressed were!

Jessica Chastain

If you followed along on Instagram you know pretty much from the get go that Jessica Chastain’s pantsuit was my favourite look for the night. I have always been in love with a pantsuit and this one did not disappoint. I’m smitten with the shimmery gold fabric of the suit and think it just stepped up the whole elegance of the look for me. I also appreciate how high waisted the pants are and I really love that Jessica opted for no shirt under the jacket. I also like the aesthetic of the very smokey dark eye, simple hair and that she opted for just earrings with no necklace. Also, I do believe she actually won the award she was nominated for, so maybe I do in fact know at least one person who was nominated and ended up winning something.

Selena Gomez

Ok, I will admit, at first look of this dress I wasn’t quite sure I liked it, but it definitely grew on me. Especially after I determined it was velvet. It was the puffy shoulders I wasn’t sold on, but you know, they aren’t THAT bad and actually add a very dramatic flare to an otherwise plainer dress. I like that she went with a middle part slicked back hair style and paired the dress with that beautiful diamond snake necklace. The whole look was giving a very dark wizardary (ya, I know it’s not a word but go with me here) vibe.

Kerry Washington

An absolute vision! Imagine wearing that much material in neon yellow and not being afraid? Or not looking like some ripped off version, so you don’t get sued, of Big Bird? I was really drawn to both the corset top and pointy neckline of the dress, and obviously that amazingly large billowing skirt!

Daveed Diggs

Wow, wow, wow! I love a man who isn’t afraid to be bold and different at award shows and this gorgeous Versace suit is just that. I like that he opted out of a tie and donned a nifty necklace instead. I also greatly appreciate that he could have played it safe with a black shoe but went full out shiny metallic, so much yes!

Ian Bohen

Ok, so a little similar to Daveed’s in the sense it’s patterned, but in Ian’s case he went with a flower pattern and bold colours. I absolutely love the colour combination in this suit. I also really like the contrast in materials, with the velvet jacket collar and the patten leather shoe, makes for a very luxurious look! Also, what has this man been in because I have a crush.

Vanessa Hudgens

Not really sure what there’s not to love about this dress. The colour, the satin, the slight cowled neckline, the ruching directing you right to that high slit and the fact I don’t think I’ve ever seen a dress fit anyone so perfectly in my life! She looked absolutely gorgeous and I love her straight ombre bob. The only thing I didn’t appreciate were the shoes. The high platform style doesn’t seem to fit the full look of elegant glam that the dress is giving off.

Lady Gaga

Since that horrid meat dress, Lady Gaga has slayed every red carpet appearance she’s made, and the SAG Awards were no exception. This dress is proof minimalism and simplicity can be incredibly dramatic. I love the chunky diamond necklace, I mean that could have been a miss given the detailed neckline but it worked really well. I also love that she went bold with a white eyeshadow, really not a look you see very often on a formal red carpet.

What do you think of my best dress list? Agreed, disagree, am I crazy and missed a stand out look?
