SPING OUTFIT 1 - JEANS & TAN CARDIGAN

Can you feel that? The snow is melting, the days are longer, we have more sunshine over grey skies. I even heard birds chirping the other morning! Spring is definitely around the corner you guys, and just like flowers in spring, I feel like I really start to bloom too.

One contributing factor to me feeling happier is transitioning from my winter wardrobe to my more light and airy feeling spring wardrobe. I was busy this weekend filming a bunch of spring outfit ideas for Instagram when I thought “why wouldn’t I add these to my blog?” Sometimes I find myself so caught up in not having picture perfect photo’s that I stop myself from creating a blog post. Unless I have time to meet up with my sister (check out her website here), all my pictures are taken on my phone in selfie mode on a tripod. Are they picture perfect compared to other bloggers? Not at all, but there’s no point in comparing because they have people taking their pictures and actual good quality cameras. If I feel happy with the way a picture, outfit or reel has turned out, than I should be proud of that because I created it all on my own.

This blog has always been something just for me. It’s amazing I’ve made friends along the way that enjoy the content I’ve put out, and I appreciate every single one of them, but at the end of the day this blog (Instagram) was always created as an outlet for me. A form of self care, a way to keep hold of my identity after becoming a new mum. Somewhere along the way I abandoned the fashion posts on here, and made more personal content. I still plan to share personal content, because I believe there is extreme value in sharing vulnerable life lessons or journey’s, but I also want to get back to what I do truly love, fashion.

These next few weeks, and posts, are going to be incredibly simple. One, or two spring inspired outfit ideas that you can easily replicate at home. I think this was another reason that strayed me from my fashion posts, again a bit of comparison, but not feeling like I had the writing creativity of others. Their outfit posts are all so detailed and creatively descriptive. I find myself, and my posts to be more simplistic. Instead of fighting simplicity and trying to force something I’m not, I’m just going to embrace that I’m a straight to the point simple lady. I’m just going to let whatever comes from mind to keyboard flow these days.

This first outfit is actually what inspired the rest. It should come as no shock to anyone that all tones of brown/tan are the IN colour. They’ve pretty much been in all winter too, and I’m 100% here for it! Shockingly, or actually not, I really don’t have a lot of brown in my wardrobe. I’ve always gravitated towards colours and not neutrals, so I was very stoked to find this little caramel coloured cardigan on sale for under $10 while grocery shopping. Cardigans are versatile as fuck so I will definitely get my $10 worth out of this baby. I was originally going to style this cardigan with distressed mom jeans, but I much preferred the lighter colour of these distressed jeans versus the mom jeans I own. I like lighter tones, shades, colours and denim for spring outfits. We don’t need to be hiding in darkness anymore like we did all winter long.

These jeans were hand me downs, and are a little out of style given they are more of a flared jean. Though I’m sure at some point Gen Z will start wearing flares again and claim they made them stylish. I’m joking. *exaggerated long silent pause*

I keep these jeans because, one I like the way they make my butt look and two they are super comfortable and I mostly wear them around my house. To make this outfit more appealing to current styles, I just rolled them up at the bottom and paired with what I like to dub a fancy platform sneaker in a light shade of beige/tan.

I’m obsessed with my own collar bone (I can’t believe I just wrote that, but I am. I’ll own that shit.), and this v-neck style really shows that off, so I opted for an air dried pony tail but fancied her up with Femme Faire’s cloud scrunchy. I then opted for very simple tiny gold necklace and earrings.

A perfect little spring casual chic outfit. If we had something like a girls brunch or lunch to attend, it would totally be perfect for that. For now, it’s still super comfortable enough to wear at home for no reason other then wanting to feel good!
